Issue 12 Table of Contents

issue-12-cover-detaiFoxes. Horses. Hares. Pheasants. Lizards. Hedgehogs. The ubiquitous hound. Our “Animals” collection features everything from the traditional animal story to the unexpected modern take. This bestiary is grim and full of shadowy and surprising mammals, rodents, reptiles and insects with terribly human agendas. And they are hungry—for blood, for ambition, for revenge, and for companionship, too. The human animal makes an appearance in this issue, but the other beasts have taken control and taken centre stage, and we won’t deprive them of the final word. They’re too commanding and disturbing. (Save for the hedgehogs, which might permit you to skritch them. We recommend keeping all windows up and hands inside your vehicles when coming upon the rest.)
